Creating a development platform for rural ICTs through the use of Radio
Access to information and effective communication hold the key to development in the Twenty First Century. Access to information and knowledge for all is not only the human privilege but also a human right. Introduction of ICTs opens a whole new range of possibilities and opportunities for integrating community participation in development communication supported by needs-based and value-added information and knowledge.
Radio remains the most powerful mass medium for reaching large numbers. Radio transcends cultural and geographical boundaries as it explores a diverse range of issues relating to the development through access of information and communications technologies (ICTs). It is an important tool for the rapid diffusion of important messages on various issues and provides a platform for expression of views, concerns and perceptions. Radio is a tool that can be used to develop community cohesion and solidarity. Community involvement is fundamental for the successful use of radio with diversified thinking process on various issues, like health, education, nutrition, socio-cultural taboos and so on.
This radio program is currently aired by Times FM at 8:05 am every Sunday.
