About the Project
QLT stands for 'Quiz on Language Translation'. It is a simple quiz which is based on the language translation. It translates the words, mainly naming words of Nepali language to English and vice-versa. The word from one language is taken as a question and multiple options which may mean the same as the question are available for it in the other language. When the correct answer is clicked, the score increases and also the correct answer is displayed. To simplify the learning, words have been divided into several categories, to which they belong.
Since Multipoint technology has been used for this software, multiple users can take part in the quiz at the same time. However, it has been limited to four users in this case. Since, this software is very much user-friendly, the students will enjoy using it. All users get a separate space, where they can work individually. When the quiz is over, the results are displayed comparing the scores of all the participants. By the time the quiz is over, users will be familiar to many words that they come across. So, along with the knowledge development, this software also aims at growing the competitive and co-operative skills in the users. It can be more distinctly described as “learning while competing”.
In our country, it is often seen that the students of rural areas have problem in English language whereas the students of urban areas, who have studied from the English boarding schools have problem in Nepali. So, QLT can be of great help to reduce these problems to some extent. It will help the students to learn some of the English words for the very common Nepali words that are used in their daily life. Also, the students can learn the Nepali words for the English words. The influence of one language can be seen in other many a times. Though one may be communicating in one particular language, it can be often noticed that the structure may be of one language but few words specially naming words have been derived from others. With the help of QLT, at-least, the students of rural area won’t get lost if someone comes and ask for a simple “Pen” though communicating in Nepali and on the other hand, the urban students don’t have to think twice for “what is Lily known as in Nepali”.
Scope
This software is useful for any person who is interested in learning some of the common naming words of English or Nepali Language. However, it is mainly focused for the students of rural area where English is not used much. Moreover, this software is of equal importance for the students of urban areas too.
Features ü Two modes are available: Nepali to English Translation and English to Nepali Translation
ü Sub-categories have also been added to simplify the learning process.
ü Multi-options questions are available for each quiz.
ü Four users can participate at a time.
ü Separate workspaces for each user.
Limitations
ü This software deals with only English and Nepali language.
ü There is no time limit for the completion of the Quiz.
ü There are no any related images that can portrait the questions and available options.
ü There are limited sub categories. Moreover, only a single word is dealt at a time.
Further Enhancement ü The same software can be used for any language according to the user’s choice.
ü Time limits can be added to the quiz and the final report of all the participants can be displayed.
ü Images could be added that will not only explain the questions and available options in a better way, but will also add some liveliness to the quiz.
ü More categories can be added, and even the sentences and phrases can be used for translation in different level like beginners, advance etc.
