Meeting of the Stakeholders of Computing One-On-One (CO3) Project in Nepal

Fifty (50) Classmate PCs as an in-kind contribution from Intel & Microsoft will be utilized to create a proof of concept as well as a pilot of the 1:1 computing in a peri-urban school of a developing country like Nepal along with creating a training lab build especially to the instructors imparting training to the school teachers of Nepal. The main objective of the project is to showcase how Nepalese curricula can be taught using computers not only in a school lab one a shared computer infrastructure concept but also as a 1:1 tool for each student to have as a learning tool.
In continuation of this project a monthly meeting was organized at Microsoft MDP Nepal’s office. Attending this meeting from Department of Education was Bishnu Prasad Devkota, Director and Babu Ram Poudel, Deputy Director; Mukunda Budathoki, Principal of Yagyamati Secondary School; Ravi Agrawal from SB Distribution, Intel distributors for Nepal; Gaurab Man Sherchan, Orion Associates; Manoj Pandey from Educomp and Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, Nutan Marasini and Subash Ghimire from Microsoft MDP Nepal.
The discussions on the meeting were on providing the status of the project in terms of the developments at the school, the research being done on this project, the content that has been developed for this project, etc.
The discussion was also on what the next steps would be after the pilot of the three months, how Nepal Government is going to do an evaluation of the ICT for Education projects that it has been running on, and also to see how such one-on-one computing proof of concept projects have been contributing to the overall education in Nepal.
