InstallFest at Thapathali Campus
June 11, 2009; Thapathali Campus, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Thapathali:
With the initiation of the Microsoft Student Partners of Thapathali Campus, Institute of Engineering Ram Hari Regmi and Ashok Basnet, Microsoft MDP Nepal organized an IntallFest amidst the crowd of nearly 400 people.
The website of the Student Union of the Campus was also inaugurated at this event, which was developed by MSP Regmi.
At the Fest, the kick-off presentation on the value of Microsoft Certification and why it is important for engineering students to not only have their college degree but also get a Microsoft certification to be more successful in their technical career, which was delivered by Microsoft Community Lead, Shailendra Jha.
Country Manager of Microsoft MDP Nepal, Allen Bailochan Tuladhar gave a presentation on what Microsoft is doing in Nepal which included all the programs that were currently being run in Nepal, inclusive of MSDN-AA to get free software for the students; Microsoft Student Partners Program; MDSNNepal.net & Technetnepal.net portal; student to business program for internships and jobs; Imagine Cup, etc.
Gandip Khaling presented on the newer features of Windows 7 and what the future of the next operating System from Microsoft would look like.

The questions and comments at the Q&A session were very lively and informative in terms of how the students from Thapathali campus can be more involved in Microsoft programs in Nepal.
