Microsoft Launches Partnership for Technology Access in Nepal

On June 24, 2009,Wednesday Microsoft announced the launch of its program Partnership for Technology Access (PTA) in Nepal in the presence of Manohar Bhattarai, Vice Chairperson, High Level Commission for Information Technology and Kapil Sharma, General Manager of NABIL Bank Ltd at United World Trade Center (DECC Hall).
This announcement is part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Government of Nepal in May 2009 and is being undertaken by Microsoft with Unlimited Technologies Pvt Ltd, its Market Development Partner (MDP) in Nepal, Nabil Bank Ltd and various government agencies.
The partnership will bring a unique Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model of PC ownership for government employees, teachers and students, Utilizing micro-financing and other financial arrangements provided by Nabil Bank Ltd in Nepal with an aim to make PC ownership affordable
Speaking at the event were Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, Country Manager, Microsoft MDP Nepal, Haja Sheriff, Business Development Director, PTA of Microsoft Corp, Kapil Sharma, General Manager, Nabil Bank, Binay Regmi, Head-Card Division, Nabil Bank, Manohar Bhattarai, Vice Chairperson, HLCIT, Juddha Bahadur Gurung, Member Secretary, HLCIT and, Rajan Raj Tuladhar, CAS Trading House.
The event was followed by cocktail reception dinner.
Microsoft MDP also organized a press meet for the launch of Partnership for Technology Access (PTA) earlier the same day and at the same venue. The press meet was attended by most of the leading media houses of Nepal, who gave an extensive coverage of the program.
