Could you share some insight into your professional experience so far?

My name is Veronica Morozova, and I’m a London-based content manager originally from Ukraine. I’ve been working in the fintech space for about seven years, alongside freelancing for startups in various industries. My journey into this field happened quite unexpectedly. With a bachelor’s in media communications, I initially dreamed of a journalism career, envisioning myself writing for cultural magazines like Dazed and Confused. But as the industry shifted toward digital platforms and social media, I found myself reevaluating my path.

After completing a master’s degree, I interned for online newspapers and shared my writing on Facebook. That’s when a friend of a friend reached out about managing social media for her startup. I was new to the idea of online content, but I gave it a try, balancing freelance work with raising my son. One client led to another through word of mouth, and I eventually connected with Emilie at Vestpod, a platform empowering women through financial education. We’ve worked together for seven years, which has been an incredibly fulfilling collaboration.

Startups have always been my preferred environment—they’re dynamic, open to fresh ideas, and give me the freedom to experiment with formats and strategies. While I’ve worked across various sectors, fintech has become my niche. When I joined a crypto company called Simple, which I work for now, I initially worried about my lack of a finance background. However, my non-expert perspective turned out to be an asset. I could communicate complex financial concepts in an approachable way, making them accessible to newcomers.

Over time, I’ve gained significant fintech knowledge, but I still value that beginner’s mindset. It reminds me to keep my tone relatable, avoiding jargon that alienates audiences. Startups like Vestpod prioritise financial education, ensuring we’re inclusive to all, especially those new to investing. My journey has taught me that curiosity and adaptability can open doors, even in unfamiliar fields. I’m excited to keep learning and helping others do the same.

Do you see value in content automation, and how can aspiring content creators leverage it for their careers?

When tools like ChatGPT first emerged, I’ll admit there was a moment of panic. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Will my clients just replace me to save money?” Thankfully, that didn’t happen. My clients recognised the unique value a seasoned content manager brings—skills and insights that go far beyond what AI alone can provide.

For me, it’s all about embracing AI as a collaborator, not a competitor. I view these tools as assistants or interns, helping me handle repetitive or time-consuming tasks. For instance, AI can quickly pull resources together if I’m facing writer’s block or need to find the latest research or quotes on a topic. It streamlines the process, but I never rely on it to create whole pieces of content. At most, it might help outline bullet points or summarise data, but the actual crafting—the human touch—comes from me.

It’s obvious when something is entirely AI-generated. That polished nuance, humour, or personality that resonates with audiences is missing. Whether it’s a clever joke or a playful tone, these are the elements that only a human writer can truly capture. That’s why I see automation as a tool to enhance, not replace, our work. It boosts productivity, sure, but it can’t replicate the creative flair or strategic thinking we bring.

AI is an incredible tool, and I appreciate how it’s reshaped workflows. But the human element remains irreplaceable—at least for now. Our ability to connect, empathise, and infuse content with personality keeps us essential in this ever-evolving landscape.

What motivates you in your role? And how do you translate your passion for content into a professional sphere?

For me, the most rewarding part of creating content is seeing how it helps people. I’ve always gravitated toward startups that want to create real change rather than just sell a product. The feedback keeps me motivated—like women emailing to say, “Thanks to your content, I finally feel confident enough to start investing.” Hearing that my work has inspired someone to take charge of their finances or try something they once found intimidating is incredibly fulfilling.

I see content as a bridge between confusion and clarity. My goal is always to simplify complex topics and make them understandable and actionable. I constantly ask myself, “How can I make this easier for someone to grasp?” That focus on the audience drives my passion and ensures my content is not only engaging but also practical and valuable.

The ever-evolving nature of content creation also excites me. There’s always something new to learn—whether it’s a fresh technology, platform, or trend. For instance, while reels are currently big, the next shift is just around the corner. Staying on top of these changes keeps me on my toes and allows me to adapt and continue crafting content that resonates.

Ultimately, my work is about empowering people through words—helping them feel more confident, capable, and informed. Knowing I can make even a small impact is what fuels me every day.

How do you maintain your passion and enthusiasm for your role and juggle multiple projects? 

For me, the learning never stops, and that’s part of what keeps content creation exciting. Every fintech project I take on presents fresh challenges and new perspectives, which keeps me fully engaged. Managing multiple projects, often across varied topics, can feel overwhelming, but I rely on time management and breaking tasks into manageable steps to stay on track.

I’ve learned the importance of planning my day around when I’m most productive. For me, that’s the morning—I tackle more complex tasks then, saving simpler ones for later when my energy wanes. Everyone works differently, so it’s about knowing yourself and playing to your strengths. Staying focused on one task at a time helps me avoid mental overload, and I also prioritise taking breaks, even when deadlines are tight. A short walk or a good night’s sleep ensures I can maintain the quality of my work.

Feedback from clients is a huge motivator. Hearing how a newsletter I crafted led to high conversion rates or how my content resonated with their audience is incredibly rewarding. It’s a reminder that my efforts have a real impact, which drives me to deliver high-quality work.

Ultimately, balancing productivity with self-care and staying adaptable in a fast-paced industry helps me bring my best to every project, ensuring my content stays both effective and engaging.

In what ways do you believe women bring unique perspectives to the crypto industry, and how can these perspectives drive innovation?

Finance and crypto have traditionally been male-dominated spaces, but women bring unique qualities that are increasingly valuable, particularly a focus on inclusivity and community building. This approach is essential for growth, especially in a field often perceived as highly technical. Women’s emphasis on user-centric design and ensuring financial products are accessible to diverse audiences helps address systemic gaps and expand the reach of these services.

Financial products have historically been designed with men in mind, even though research shows that women approach finance differently. For example, women are generally more cautious investors than men, who often take greater risks. Interestingly, studies, such as one from Warwick Business School, reveal that women’s cautious and long-term strategies tend to yield better investment returns. These findings highlight how bringing a female perspective into fintech can lead to more effective and inclusive solutions.

Addressing issues like the gender pay gap, the retirement gap, and the motherhood penalty requires systemic change, but having more women in finance and crypto is crucial. Women understand the challenges their peers face and can develop products tailored to their needs. Encouraging female participation helps close these gaps and empowers women to invest confidently and take control of their financial futures.

We’re seeing the impact of these efforts through initiatives like women-led financial blogs and platforms. Hearing from women who feel empowered to invest for the first time underscores the importance of diverse voices in finance. Building inclusive teams and communities in fintech and crypto is essential for driving meaningful change ensuring that financial empowerment is accessible to everyone.

Content often requires a lot of collaboration and is subjective in quality. How do you build confidence in your capabilities? 

Building confidence as a content manager is a journey, not an overnight transformation. When I started, I was an anxious and self-critical writer, undercharging for my work because I didn’t value my skills. Over time, I learned to trust the process and focus on the bigger picture—crafting content with clear goals like informing and inspiring the audience. Having a framework for success helped me gain clarity and confidence in my work.

Collaboration is vital, but so is knowing when to stand your ground. Early on, I struggled with speaking up when clients suggested trendy ideas that didn’t align with the content strategy. Over time, I realised I was hired for my expertise, and it was okay to offer alternative solutions confidently. Standing firm, backed by sound reasoning, often led to better outcomes and helped establish trust with clients.

Confidence, for me, came with time and experience. Feedback played a huge role—seeing my content resonate with audiences, achieve goals, and even be shared widely reinforced my sense of direction. Initially, I was hesitant to suggest new formats or ideas, fearing rejection. But I realised the worst-case scenario was simply a “no.” Taking the leap to propose creative solutions enriched my work and built stronger professional relationships.

Openness to constructive criticism is key, but advocating for your creative choices is equally important. Content management requires a mix of creativity, strategic thinking, and adaptability. Clients and colleagues appreciate fresh ideas, and in my experience, stepping up with innovative solutions has always been well-received. Don’t be afraid to take risks—your ideas might just be the breakthrough your project needs.

What message or words of encouragement would you like to share with women and girls who aspire to make their mark in the crypto or financial industry? 

Entering the finance and crypto industries can feel intimidating, but it’s crucial to remember that your ideas and perspectives are valuable, even if you don’t have a traditional finance background. I don’t have a finance degree, yet I’ve found meaningful ways to contribute through fresh ideas, innovative content approaches, and creative strategies for social media. These industries constantly evolve, and there’s no single path to success.

Don’t hesitate to take up space and share your unique perspective. Your insights, questions, and even challenges to the status quo are what drive progress. The industry, especially in areas like fintech and crypto, thrives on diversity of thought and fresh voices. This is particularly true for women, whose participation can bring vital perspectives to a field that historically lacks inclusivity.

The key is to bring your authentic self into the space. Whether through innovative ways of presenting content or offering a new take on established ideas, your contributions matter. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, propose ideas, or express opinions—these actions foster growth for you and the industry.
